Save your Money Part II

In the post "Save your Money Part I" we covered the comparison of the Sylvania Silverstar vs true HID headlight Conversions, and determined over the life of the bulb you could end up spending over twice as much on a traditional halogen bulb than an HID kit. In Save your Money Part II we are going to cover the additional cost that the cheap headlight bulbs can cost you. On Ebay you can find these cheap high wattage "fake HID" bulbs very cheap and the are sometimes 100w upgrades, bulbs like Polarg, Raybrig, Nokya are just a few, well since your factory headlight bulb is only 55W and an HID is only 35W you can see there is an obvious difference. The wiring in the vehicle is only equipped to supply power to your factory headlight wattage of 55w , so adding a 100w bulb does not only add twice the amperage load on the wiring harness plus and fuse panel you are adding twice as much heat to the headlight housing which can cause melting of the harness, plugs, wiring, fuse panel, melt the headlight housing, or worse case burn your ride to the ground. In 2004 there were a reported 266,000 car fires reported in the US alone resulting in 520 deaths. It is also reported that "The risk of a car or vehicle fire is even greater than the risk of an apartment fire. More people die in vehicle fires than in apartment fires each year in the United States," said AAA President Robert Darblenet. This is not going to be the case with every aftermarket bulb but just the cost to replace the molex connectors on a Honda civic is over $ 50.00 and the entire harness can run well over $150 and require hours of installation. This again is a great point on Saving your Money an HID kit not only plugs into your factory harness but only has a 35W bulb and the entire conversion draws 40% less amperage than you factory headlight bulb. Motorcycles can suffer from these problems even grater than automobiles due to there limited size smaller battery and weak charging systems.Let us save you money www.hidextreme.com

Save your Money Part I

The Sylvania SilverStar bulbs are probably one of the most popular over the counter replacement bulbs out there they are available at most of the major retailers such as Autozone, Pep Boys and many other box stores. What are the comparisons between true HID (High Intensity Discharge) and a coated overpriced halogen bulb, there is no comparison. The biggest complaint I see about HID is the cost, but if you do the math the Halogen bulbs actually cost more over the live of the bulb. When you compare the SilverStar bulb at $50.00 per set, but with an average of only 500 hours, and the HID Conversion Kit cost for a low beam kit from HID Extreme.COM at $149.00 rated at 2500 hours, it is simple math the SilverStars are going to cost you $250.00 to replace them for the lifespan of the HID Headlight Conversion Kit. Not only is the cost of the bulbs a major comparison, the bulbs construction is also measurable. The only way to get a brighter light from something that has a color coating over it is to increase its wattage which in turn puts a bigger stress on your cars electrical system, which can be decreased do to a big stereo system, extreme cold or hot weather, or just a weak battery. An HID headlight conversion kit not only uses a clear housing on the light bulb it is up to 40% more efficient than a traditional halogen bulb with an operating voltage of only 3.5 amps. So I think the title of this post is right Save your Money visit www.hidextreme.com to buy your kit today.
